I am primarily a parent. I’ve been 100% stay at home parent since 2017. I have four children. I am also a former church musician and was, in a former life, a minister to college students for a church. I live in Texas, but I am originally from Iowa - both U.S. states.
When I started this Smol Pub, I named it “myoldtweets.” At the time that was the name of my website. It is also a running joke I have with my family - I might jokingly mention that I’ll pay someone in “my old tweets” instead of cash - or offer “my old tweets” as a birthday gift instead of a desired object. In my daily usage, I’ve turned the word “Twitter” into an epithet - a curse uttered under the breath.
And yet I have a goal of somehow cataloging all of my old tweets into a viewable form on my own website. To somehow sum up me and my essence. This is what the web represents to me now - a project for self creation and preservation. A fearful mountain to climb, indeed — a mountain I have spent more time sliding down than scaling.
But I have to find my voice somehow. To not fear the clicking of the keyboard - to not fear for people to know me truthfully.
